BE THE CHURCH:
A Year oF Formation

Overview
Every generation must rediscover what it means to be the Church - not merely to attend one.
In 2026, we journey through Acts: A Light in the Darkness, tracing the story of how ordinary believers became the living presence of Christ in the world.

This is not only their story - it is ours.
The Spirit who filled the early Church still fills the Church today.
The Word that sent them still sends us.
And the love that sustained them in persecution still holds us in grace.

This year’s readings, prayers and practices are not a program to complete but a rhythm to receive.
Each season of the year will move the heart of our community through a different dimension of formation - identity, repentance, power, wisdom, mission, worship, love and expectation.
Together, they tell one unfolding story:
that God forms His people not only through revelation, but through rhythm.

The Story Beneath the Story
Acts gives us the incredible story of the origin of the church.
The readings, prayers and practices of this year tell the story beneath the story - how the Spirit forms Christ within His people.

Each movement corresponds to a rhythm of the Christian life:
      • Identity (who we are in Christ)
      • Repentance (turning toward Christ)
      • Empowerment (living by the Spirit)
      • Formation (growing in wisdom and love)
      • Mission (joining God’s work in the world)
      • Worship (dwelling in His presence)
      • Communion (abiding in His love)
      • Expectation (waiting for His return)

Together, these are the hours of the Church’s year - the slow revolution by which God turns ordinary people into a people of His presence.

The Purpose of the Year
This year’s formation plan is not about perfection but participation.
Our aim is not to master Scripture, but to be mastered by it.
Not to perform spiritual disciplines, but to be formed through them.
Not to find new truths, but to live the ancient ones more fully.

Each week offers:
      • Scripture readings - to root your imagination in the story of God.
      • A weekly practice - to embody the truth in ordinary life.
      • A doctrinal focus - to deepen conviction and theological clarity.
      • A missional reflection - to turn belief into love and love into action.

In the end, the measure of formation is not knowledge, but likeness - “until Christ is formed in you.” (Galatians 4:19)

Core Truth
To Be the Church is to live as those continually shaped by the love, power and presence of God.
We are not self-made or momentary; we are Spirit-formed and eternal.
We gather to remember, scatter to serve and abide in Christ to become more like Him. (John 15)
The light that originated in Christ still burns through His people - a light in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.
