Abiding In Love
11/1/26-11/28/26

Overview
After a season of worship in The Hours, the story of Acts slows into intimacy.

The disciples who once hurried from city to city now learn to rest in the abiding love of Christ - the same love that unites Father, Son and Spirit.

Across these four weeks, the Church listens to the farewell words of Jesus in John 14–17.

He speaks not of strategy or strength, but of communion: abide, remain, love one another. This is not inactivity but participation - the life of Christ shared through His Spirit.

Each week draws the believer deeper into the mystery of union with Christ:
      • from peace received,
      • to fruit produced,
      • to presence trusted,
      • to unity embodied.

To Be the Church - Abiding in Love is to discover that discipleship is not a climb but a dwelling, not a demand but a relationship.  Love is both the root and the fruit of every Christian life.

Scripture Memory
November 1 - November 28, 2026: John 15:1–5 (ESV)
[1] “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.
[2] Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
[3] Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you.
[4] Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
[5] I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

Spiritual Movement
Peace → Fruit → Presence → Unity

The abiding life of the Church unfolds like the life of Christ Himself:
Peace Rooted in Union - We rest in the love of the Son.
Fruit Formed by the Spirit - We bear what His life produces.
Presence Trusted in Faith - We follow the unseen companion.
Unity Perfected in Love - We become one as God is One.

The spiritual arc moves from inward rest to outward harmony - from abiding in Christ to embodying His love together.

Core Truth
To Be the Church - Abiding in Love is to dwell continually in the life of the Triune God.  Our peace is Christ’s presence, our fruit is the Spirit’s power and our unity is the Father’s design.  Abiding is not passive waiting; it is active participation in love from God.

From this abiding life flows witness, joy and endurance - a Church at rest in the love that cannot fail.

Reflection Prompt for the Whole Arc
At the close of Week 47, pause to look back:
      • Where have you learned to rest rather than strive?
      • What fruit of the Spirit has quietly taken shape in you?
      • How has trust in the Spirit changed your posture toward uncertainty?
      • Where might Christ be calling you to repair or renew unity with another?

Write a short prayer beginning with:
“Lord Jesus, teach me to abide - to rest in Your love, to trust Your Spirit and to walk in unity that reflects Your heart…”

Carry this prayer as preparation for Advent, where love made flesh comes to dwell among us once again.
